Beyond Victimhood and Education: Peace building in Jammu and Kashmir Team JKCPJ Visits Slain Aadil Yadoo’s Family

A team of Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Peace and Justice (JKCPJ) on 17th of May
2018 visited the family of slain Aadil Ahmad Yadoo of Gaasi Mohalla Safakadal
Srinagar who was crushed to death by a police vehicle on 5th of May 2018. Aadil who
was the lone bread earner in his family is survived by his parents and six siblings
including five brothers and one sister. JKCPJ assured the family of extending long-term
assistance that would facilitate their self-sufficiency. Furthermore, the JKCPJ has
decided to take the responsibility of providing education to Aadil’s younger sister, who
is currently a student of the first standard. It is worth mentioning here that the Jammu
and Kashmir Centre for Peace and Justice has taken up an initiative “Beyond
Victimhood” for the victims of the Kashmir conflict. Through this program, JKCPJ
intends to empower the victims of violence in Kashmir so that they don’t find
themselves unfortunate persons, a condition that makes them vulnerable to exploitation.
