JKCPJ organizes a Mental Health Awareness Workshop at Government Boys Middle School Kakapora Pulwama.
Jk Centre for peace and Justice Foundation organized a Mental Health workshop at
Government Boys Middle School Kakapora, Pulwama. The welcome session was started by
Mr Gowher Ahmad Ganaie (JKCPJ Senior Researcher) followed by a quick overview of the
organization.
JKCPJ Mental Health expert Ms Manaal discussed approaches that parents and educators can
take to support youth, including strategies to promote resilience. She spoke with the
participants on the topics of substance misuse, bullying, puberty, and violence. She also
discussed child sexual abuse with the students. She talked about the importance of voicing
students’ concerns to their trusted adults if they feel they’re being sexually groomed by an older
adult online or offline. She stressed one should stand up for himself and should raise his voice
if he feels that he is being touched uncomfortably by anyone. Early intervention in such cases
can prevent a child’s assault, she added.
The JKCPJ team highlighted we aim to provide young people with a platform for genuine
connection and generate mental health awareness among young people and strengthen demand
for integrated mental health and psychosocial interventions. We need to be creative, and kind
to ourselves and appreciate others for what they are doing he added.
The JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation (JKCPJ) visited another school aimed at
educating children about mental health. The Program fits with JKCPJ’s organizational mission
and was a component of its statewide effort, “Students Connect 2022.” The faculty and students
appreciated the JKCPJ team for understanding, recognizing, and notifying students’ needs. The
children stayed upbeat and kind throughout the interaction.
