Voice to the Voiceless Team JKCPJ in Shopian
Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Peace and Justice (JKCPJ) on 7th of April 2019 held
two youth interactions at Peerpora and Arihal villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian
district. Both girls and boys, mostly students, participated in the interactions and
voiced their opinion about the burning issues prevalent in the state. The participants
at Peerpora, who were in their 20’s, said that it was for the first time in their life that
they have got a chance to speak up for themselves. “We have never been heard
before, neither at academic level nor the societal,” they added.
Meanwhile, the JKCPJ team interacted with the students in Arihal village. The
students presented the overall scenario of the education system in Kashmir and
thereof the suggestions for what changes are required in the said system. They also
told the JKCPJ team that it was for the time that they were talking about their
problems.
